What’s Life’s Purpose (A Poem)

What’s life’s purpose
when living with chronic pain?

Should you reproduce?
Should you make money?
Should you get that diamond ring?

Should you do everything?
Maybe nothing at all?
Whichever you choose,
Are you pre-conditioned to fall?

It’s tough living in a world—
living in a place and a time
when chronic pain isn’t taken
seriously—all of the time.

Pain can be invisible;
Those who know, know.
People shouldn’t be blamed
If they don’t ask or you don’t show.

Pain is challenging for everyone involved.
For those that have it and
for all their loved ones.
Give everyone close to you
a kiss and a big hug.
Everyone wants, maybe needs,
